WHO WE ARE
Monkeys of the Sea is a queer-led community of ocean lovers who explore the world's most extraordinary seas together.
The ocean does not care who you are on land, and neither do we.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
COMMUNITY
This is a queer-led space. You don’t need to explain yourself, perform, or hold back. Whether you identify as queer or simply value openness and authenticity, you’re welcome here.
Some guests arrive as experienced divers. Others have never seen a coral reef. Both belong. What connects everyone is curiosity, respect, and a genuine love for the ocean.
RESPECT
Respect is at the heart of everything we do. For the wildlife we encounter, for the ecosystems we visit, for the local communities that call these places home, and for every person on the expedition. We are guests in the wilderness. We observe and we allow moments to unfold naturally. We never chase wildlife or interfere with animal behaviour.
We also respect the ocean itself, which means accepting that it operates entirely on its own terms. Wildlife encounters are never guaranteed, weather changes, and conditions shift. That unpredictability is exactly what makes it real. The ocean gives us extraordinary gifts when we approach it with patience.
HOW WE OPERATE
KNOWLEDGE
Every expedition is science-informed. Years of field research, marine biology and science training, and hands-on experience in some of the world's most complex ecosystems shape how every trip is led. We keep sighting logbooks on every dive, share knowledge through presentations, and approach every destination with genuine scientific curiosity. Expect a lot of fascinating facts.
SAFETY
Both physical and psychological safety are central to how we operate. On and around the water, every decision prioritizes the wellbeing of every participant. I am a professional diver with years of experience leading groups in some of the world's most demanding and remote marine environments. That experience informs every safety decision made on every trip.
Equally important is emotional safety. This is a space where everyone is welcome exactly as they are, without explanation or performance.
DESTINATIONS
These are not random places pulled from a list. Every destination is chosen deliberately for its biological significance and its extraordinary marine life. These are places that blow my mind no matter how many times I visit. That is what I want to share with you.
